Differentiate between the following

Q.1. Cohesion and adhesion
Ans. The force of attraction between the molecules of same substance is called cohesion and between different substance is adhesion.

Q.2. Conduction and Convection
Ans. Conduction is defined as the flow of heat through matter from a place of higher temperature to a place of lower temperature without the movement of matter as a whole and In case of convection be the actual movement of fluid itself.

Q.3. Solids, liquids and gases in terms of arrangement of molecules.
Ans. Particles in a:
-gas are well separated with no regular arrangement.
-liquid are close together with no regular arrangement.
-solid are tightly packed, usually in a regular pattern.

Q.4. Solids, liquids and gases in terms of the motion of molecules.
Ans. Particles in a:
-gas vibrate and move freely at high speeds.
-liquid vibrate, move about, and slide past each other.
-solid vibrate (jiggle) but generally do not move from place to place.
